Bill Townsend

H.W. (Bill) Townsend wanted to be an artist when he was six years old. At the age of 40 he walked away from a high paying executive job to fulfill his dream. He hasn’t looked back since.Townsend’s paintings in oils have a way of re-organizing nature’s table of life into powerful structures on canvas. He searches for special aspects in his environment; he calls these “some God-inspired creations so perfect in composition and design.”

Townsend has been the guest on a number of television programs and was one of 12 artists in a CBC documentary produced for “Canada Day” celebrations a number of years ago. Although primarily self-taught, Townsend received his early art training at the Vancouver School of Art and the New York School of Design in Manhattan.

Today the list of corporations and individuals collecting his work continues to grow. A partial list of his corporate collectors includes the American Broadcasting Corporation, Hong Kong Bank of Canada, Royal Bank of Canada, Imperial Bank of Commerce, AMOCO Canada, Canadian Occidental Petroleum and Fortune Energy Inc., to name but a few. A Townsend painting speaks of more than simple beauty – it speaks of freedom, found only within ourselves.
