Robert Anderson

Leaving a seventeen year career in management and consulting behind, Robert passed the rigorous standards to achieve national accreditation with the Professional Photographers of Canada association in 1987. His first sale of a painting through a major art dealer followed in 1991.

Twenty years and 30 group and Solo shows later he has undertaken a dramatic shift in style. His newest acrylics, boldly capturing the rugged beauty and dynamically changing quality of light of the prairie, mountain, and coastal landscapes in magnificently intense color, have received immediate acceptance.

Growing up hiking and canoeing the harsh beauty of Northern Alberta imbued in him a deep spiritual connection to the wilderness, a fierce independence, and a lifetime dedication to the right to freedom and safety of all animals. He served for five years as a Warden and security officer for B.C.s Matheson Lake Park and East Sooke Regional Park, was honored as volunteer of the year by BCSPCA's WILDArc Animal Hospital in 2004, volunteer of the year at the Victoria Humane Society 2005, and his photography and field work were integral to the application for protection of waterways and endangered species habitat in the wildlife corridor along Cougar Ridge.

Having survived a heart attack alone in the coastal rain forest in 2008 he still hikes the woods alone in all weather, photographing wildlife and images as reference for paintings.
